Les-Baux-de-Provence

Jenean Derheim climbs the basalt rocks above the village

We made a scenic drive from our home base in Gordes through the valley of the Luberon yesterday, making stops for picture taking in Oppede and in Menerbes before continuing on to St. Remy for a lovely lunch where Jenean’s birthday was celebrated with a glass of Cremant and a sparkler presented in a slice of lemon by the singing staff at the end of our meal. We told them we’d be back in three weeks. They probably thought we were kidding, but it’s true! We will return here with our next clients, Art and Carol.

View of Les-Baux-de-Provence from the north

The rocktop hamlet of Les-Baux-de-Provence looks the best from the north, and so that’s where we drove, up and up and up some more until we had the perfect vantage point for a photograph. You can see the industrial stacks of Marseilles from here. Imagine what the knights who guarded this castle could see.
