Building future adventures – Krk, Istria, Croatia

Two friends play chess, island of Krk, Istria, Croatia

We spent the night of July 22 at the Hotel Malin on the island of Krk, Istria. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon and went promptly to our room, a pretty plain one with a balcony featuring an expansive view of the Adriatic. Room service was called, and we were soon enjoying plates of delicious ham, cheeses, olives and a wonderful tuna salad drenched in olive oil – all for less than $30. That was the best thing about the Hotel Malin, other than the exceptional service. Otherwise, our room was typical Howard Johnson’s and for the price, more than $225 for the night with breakfast, more than a little bit high for Istria. Ah well, summer in Croatia, where German license plates outnumber the locals by two to one.
