Photographer's note: Mr. Costa commissioned me to photograph the two villages named above following his own personal visit in March of 1992. He encountered the typical pitfalls of the tourist, bad weather and a lack of film! He also had a lack of time. I did a thorough job for him this time.

My eyes teared and a lump came to my throat as I first read the letter you sent, then the text and as I viewed the pictures. It is a beautiful piece of work and one which I'll cherish forever. It was wonderful to see the the church where my grandparents were married and where my father and his brothers and sister were baptized. I never would have believed that such a beautiful church could exist in such a small town.
