One of the beauties of traveling with Jim in Ireland or anywhere else for that matter are the unscheduled stops. The island and tram were not on our itinerary but that is what makes traveling with Jim a joy. If he or you see something or someplace that looks interesting - you stop to explore. Try that on a tour bus! We did not have to share the tram with any sheep but did share it with a three fellow visitors to the island on our return to the mainland.

Nice video in the Irish pub and fun music. Posting short vedois along with the “postcards” is a good way to entice people to get in the traveling mood. Not a comment really, but Paula’s next European Focus trip would like to be Scotland and Ireland. Not in 2011 but in 2012, assuming the end of the world doesn’t start this month and end before next year as predicted. I have an idea that Audrey might be coaxed along as well. Our plate is full this year. Audrey will be here later this month and we have a trip planned to Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks in early May. I call it a “California Focus Tour”.Then in July Paula and I will be going back to McCarthy and Kennecott, Alaska for the big celebration of the arrival of the first train in McCarthy/Kennecott 100 years ago. That was the area where I worked in 1950 and 1951 when I first graduated from College. It was the 50th anniversary then; the railroad actually stopped running about 1932.I guess you may already be back in Germany or will be shortly. Anyway, that is the secret trip that Paula has been thinking about – Scotland and Ireland.

Hello! I'm also on a genealogical journey, seeking my grandmother's family "Stettler" that immigrated to the US in 1732. Other family research leads me to this region as William Penn reportedly recruited this family to escape the poverty of the region. Is there any opportunity to find former residents from this and the preceding time period? Many thanks!

Jane started planning this trip in 2010. Now she's here, experiencing things she had only dreamt about. It's our great pleasure to show Jane her roots in Germany.

I attended my aunt's funeral today. She was my father's sister and their last name was Muesse. That is very unusual and if I see that name, I assume we might be kin. At the funeral someone was telling us that there was a town in Germany called Muesse. I googled the name and found a Mussen. I am wondering if this is what he was talking about. He was positive though that it was spelled Muesse and said it was a very small town. Came across your information and thought you might have some info. You mentioned a Georg Muesse as a cousin. If you have any other information regarding the Muesse name, I would appreciate hearing from you.

What a fun story and opportunity to see the "masters" at their work, especially after just finishing "The Rossetti Letter". Just like the book, I was visualizing going through the canals in Venice (some less traveled).

We are home from our wonderful "Bucket List" trip to Bavaria. My husband, George, has always wanted to visit the towns where his parents were from and, thanks to European Focus, he is now so happy and thankful for his experiences.
We have been on many tours and cruises and didn't really know what to expect from our first experience with European Focus. Jim exceeded our expectations so much. We experienced hotels, inns, and restaurants where "real" Germans go. There were so many places with historic significance plus so many "extras" that really let us see Bavarian life, both in the past and today. Jim took us to places where "normal" tours and tour guides never go. His knowledge of Bavaria is really amazing. For instance, he took us where the first bratwurst was sold as well as the restaurant that served the first weisswurst in Munich- and he even knows the proper way to eat them!
Jim paid attention to our every need from the landing in Frankfurt to our departure 10 days later. He is knowledgeable, honest, and lots of fun! We now can't imagine another trip with anyone else! We plan to join Jim again next year to explore another area of Europe. We cannot say enough positive things about our experiences with European Focus and are thankful that we decided to take a chance. E. Focus is a terrific way to travel!
