We get this question often at our retail store “European Focus Village” in the heart of Sarasota, Florida. The answer is, “Yes, all of the time!” In fact, more than half of the 10-15 trips we design and lead each season (March through October) are with repeat clients, couples, who have been completely spoiled by our easy-going style of travel. They may have been cruisers or bus tour fans in the past, but no more. Now they’re completely addicted to the European Focus method of authentic travel and adventure, the comfortable road, and not the “Europe Through the Back Door” experience of some of the hapless people we see being led around by a non-stop talking guide at a racetrack pace through Europe. Ever wonder where the “If it’s Tuesday this must be Belgium” saying comes from? Bus tours! We have turned the entire concept of escorted travel on its head, and we’ve been doing this successfully since 1995. Is this a cheap way to travel around Europe? Absolutely not. As with any custom-designed service or product, our trips are priced at a level which takes into account the personal service, the planning, the easy pace and the excellent accommodations and food that our clients love.

Postcard from Lucerne

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

The beautiful and historic Chapel Bridge was constructed in the 14th century as part of the battlements around the medieval town of Lucerne. It stood for more than 600 years until a carelessly discarded cigarette burned more than 90% of the bridge in 1993. It was rapidly rebuilt. Visit Lucerne on a custom-designed, private tour arranged for you and your loved ones or friends. Now booking for 2011 and 2012.

We stayed the nights of September 11 and 12 in Grindelwald, a place of almost indescribable beauty. Here are some images from the past weekend.

Gimmelwald Switzerland Picnic Adventure

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

One of our guests walking past the little cheese hut

We took our current guests to the hamlet of Gimmelwald, in the Lauterbrunnen Valley of Switzerland the other day for a picnic lunch prepared by the staff of our hotel. It was magnificent! The weather cooperated and we had the most beautiful of views looking at the back side of the Jungfrau mountain. Photos are from our day in this village without cars or other motorized transportation.

Making Hay While the Sun Shines in Heidiland

Taking in the view in Heidiland

Taking in the view in Heidiland

We had the good luck to catch several farmers way, way up high on the mountainside above the Walensee in the St. Galen district of Switzerland the other day. The sun was shining and the farmers were rushing to bring in the hay before a storm arrived later that day. Shown are guests Bob and Paula Leitzell on the bench with the best view in the valley.
